Children's Cancer Institute is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Computational Biology team. Responsibilities in this role will include: Building and Managing CI/CD pipelines in a cloud environment • Enabling testing automation Developing infrastructure solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage and work processes; investigating problem areas Documenting and demonstrating solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code Preparing and installing solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards and programming Improving operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures Updating job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations Protecting operations by keeping information confidential Supporting and developing software engineers by providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities Making informed decisions quickly and taking ownership of services and applications at scale We save & change lives. To succeed you will have… Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or Bioinformatics. 5+ years of experience as a software engineer Experience in at least one of frontend or backend development; tech stack is TypeScript for frontend and backend, React as a frontend framework, and Nest.js as a backend framework. Experience in RESTful APIs and the MVC design pattern. Experience with database architecture and writing sophisticated SQL queries. Experience Working in an Agile Environment Experience with mission critical, 24x7 systems Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams and management to collect requirements, identify tasks, provide estimates and meet production deadlines Experience with professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations Experience in database & systems administration Experience in CI/CD pipelines for software engineering Experience in app containerisation Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
