About the Role Reporting to the Vice President, Head of APAC, Global Clinical Operations, the Senior Director, Clinical Operations for ANZ (Australia and New Zealand) will play a pivotal role in leading the GCO function for ANZ, overseeing strategic planning and ensuring successful execution of clinical operations' deliverables in ANZ. This key leadership position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance BeiGene's reputation and capabilities, cultivate collaborative culture, drive efficiency, and maintain the highest standards in clinical trial execution.
Lead and inspire the GCO ANZ team (size around 150 employees at preesnt) to achieve strategic objectives with a focus on high-quality and efficient clinical trial operations. Drive strong execution of clinical operations' deliverables in ANZ, aligning with global objectives. Collaborate with other GCO APAC leaders to enhance efficiency, metrics, and processes for successfully conducting BeiGene's clinical trials in ANZ. Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams to strengthen BeiGene's reputation and capabilities in ANZ. Cultivate a culture within the Clinical Operations Team in ANZ that is highly collaborative, self-motivated, and marked by a strong sense of accountability and can-do spirit. Ensure a continuous improvement mindset is embraced, driving greater business value. Foster an environment with trust and respect, actively promotes innovation and excellence. Ensure GCO ANZ clinical trials are inspection-ready at all times, maintaining a proactive approach to ensure high quality. Represent GCO ANZ team as an ANZ Country Leadership team member Essential Functions of the job: Ensure timely planning and delivery of clinical trials with high quality in ANZ Contribute to and has accountability for overall Global Clinical Operations strategy and performance against key metrics Maintain a positive and results-orientated work environment Drive team members to improve their efficiency and effectiveness at prioritizing work and improving performance Develop training plans and programs across Clinical Operations to enhance project management skills Ensure that multiple, novel ideas on how to deliver on clinical trials are generated and considered Actively oversee the knowledge management process by ensuring information is captured, retained, and leveraged for future work Ensure operational processes, systems and standards are adopted and implemented consistently across trials Contribute to Clinical Operations and clinical trial sourcing strategy development and takes a lead role in vendor governance Champion a global mindset and approach across Clinical Operations to foster increased collaboration and consistency across BeiGene Ensure alignment with broader BeiGene strategic initiatives and business needs and provides recommendations or ideas on how Global Clinical Operations' programs can generate greater value for BeiGene overall Ensure Global Clinical Operations thinking and activities are aligned with overall business direction and priorities Identify opportunities and initiatives within the broader organization that can be adopted/adapted by Global Clinical Operations as best practice; equally recommend best practices within Global Clinical Operations that if more broadly applied would benefit BeiGene as a whole Maintain a working knowledge of, and assure compliance with, applicable ICH Guidelines, Good Clinical Practices, Regulatory Agency requirements, and SOPs Implement and revise SOPs and monitor departmental compliance Participate in formal staff performance review processes Communicate with internal and external staff effectively with a professional and collaborative approach. Escalate issues to BeiGene Senior Management team timely Demonstrate strong initiative in activities through the clinical trials and other company initiatives Proactively identify potential issues and seek improvement. Take initiative for issue resolution within and outside the Global Clinical Operations department. Coordinate the risk management process encompassing proactive risk identification, evaluation (probability and impact) and mitigation plans Supervisory Responsibilities: Line Management of direct reports 2nd line reporting as needed, be able to supervise and coach line managers in people management Qualification Required: Qualification & Competencies More than 15 years in clinical or drug development experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical/CRO industry Minimum of 10 years of project management and/or clinical operation line management, or other function leadership experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical/CRO industry More than 5 years of proven track record of successful functional leadership experience in clinical or drug development in the biotech/pharmaceutical/CRO industry Country leadership experience is required Both Project Management & Clinical Monitoring experience required to lead the ANZ Regional Trial Management and Clinical monitoring teams. Strong leadership skills including experience of managing staff and/or experience of leading multi-functional drug development teams. Extensive and successive track record in leading the clinical operation function Strong business acumen with the ability to operate in a complex, dynamic marketplace and a matrix local / global organization; Agile, strategic thinking and ability to develop innovative ideas and solutions to business function Demonstrate great people leadership skill and is a strong collaborator Highly skilled in influencing cross-functional teams, including interfacing with key internal and external stakeholders, including CROs; Demonstrate and show high awareness to the DEI&B and cultural diversity Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills Fluent in written and verbal English Flexible, attention to details with strong can-do attitude Travel: Domestic and/or international travel required
Computer Skills: Strong computer skills – experience using various computer applications including spreadsheets, email, word-process software.
