PRIMARY DETAIL•Work with a high performing and collaborative technical team•Competitive salary with 17% superannuation & progressive flexible working arrangements•Full-time, fixed term until 30 June 2028THE ROLEThe Australian Proteome Analysis Facility (APAF) is seeking a proteomics expert who is ready to join our Protein Interactions team as a Senior Analytical Technician.APAF is a NATA accredited facility within the Macquarie Analytical and Fabrication Facility (MAFF), providing research support, expertise and services in proteomics to the Australian and international research community. The facility currently hosts significant infrastructure and specialist expertise in mass spectrometry based proteomics, bioinformatics, mass photometry, amino acid analysis and array technology.This role will be part of the Protein Interactions team at APAF, one of the four teams which make up the specialist areas of the facility (Bioinformatics, Mass Spectrometry, Protein Analysis, and Protein Interactions). Reporting to the Protein Interactions Technology Manager you will:Provide expert technical support to internal and external clients, collaborators and industry partners;Contribute to the research and development of experimental methods, techniques and/or technologies;Implement new analytical procedures, and review and maintain procedures for a specialist stream;Prepare samples, collect data, and provide expert data analysis and interpretation. Prepare outputs, including reports, for clients and collaborators;Undertake complex instrument troubleshooting and maintain laboratory instruments, equipment and maintenance schedules;Train and supervise staff, students and external users in laboratory instruments and practices including sample preparation, instrumentation techniques and data interpretation.About UsAPAF is part of the Macquarie Analytical and Fabrication Facility (MAFF), a shared research infrastructure facility which sits within the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Macquarie University. APAF is also supported by Bioplatforms Australia (BPA) through funding from the Australian Government National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) and is proudly accredited by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025.MAFF includes a highly diverse range of analytical instrumentation and research facilities which include (in addition to APAF): the Macquarie University Centre for Analytical Biotechnology (MUCAB), NMR facility, Microscopy Unit, the Macquarie Engineering Technical Services workshop (METS) and the Material Characterisation and Analysis Facility (MCAF).The facility of APAF houses a range of mass spectrometers, including Orbitrap Tribrid Eclipse, Exploris 480 and Waters Cyclic IMS instruments, a TwoMP Mass Photometer, and other state-of-the-art specialist instrumentation. The facility has a team of expert technical staff who manage these instruments and the facilities, as well as analyse samples, develop methods and provide expert data analysis and interpretation. The facility supports research from internal and external clients through access to instrumentation with training and support from the APAF team; and through project work completed as a service by the APAF team.
