Arvela is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer to drive our early-stage, innovative insect breeding business based in Perth towards industry-leading excellence.
About Us Our focus is on supplying high-quality black soldier fly eggs as a sustainable solution for organic waste conversion.
Our journey begins with insect egg production, laying the foundation for protein creation and waste management. The Chief Operating Officer will lead a seamless transition from our current pilot facility to an industry-leading commercial facility, now in the design phase.
Your Role As our COO, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our strategic vision and operational execution as we scale production. Your leadership will guide us through the transition from pilot to commercial scale, ensuring seamless operations and market-leading innovation.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading a culture that puts the health and safety of the team at the forefront Developing and executing operational strategies to optimise egg production, egg quality and logistics to our customers Providing inspiring leadership to drive continuous improvement and innovation across all facets of our operations Leading the commercialization efforts to bring our insect-based protein and waste-derived products to market Overseeing the development of our commercial facility, ensuring adherence to quality standards and sustainability principles Recruiting, retaining and developing a high performing operational team Collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve our ambitious organisational goals and foster a culture of excellence What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will have:
Minimum 15 years of senior management experience in a growth-focused business, with a strong background in operations and health and safety leadership Proven expertise in manufacturing, preferably with knowledge of biological systems A track record of successfully scaling businesses, with both a customer focus and enthusiasm for sustainability Inspirational leadership abilities, capable of motivating teams and driving transformative change during a period of growth Experience in facility development and project management, with a commitment to sustainable practices and operational excellence Bonus : Experience in insect-based protein production or waste transformation, with a passion for leveraging technology to address global challenges Join Our Team: If you're passionate about sustainability, innovation, and shaping the future of food and waste management, we want to hear from you!
