Join Our Client's Dynamic Team as a Nurse Unit / Team Manager
Situated in the vibrant Surry Hills, our client's services go beyond the ordinary, encompassing both withdrawal management support (detox) and residential rehabilitation, along with community-based programs. Committed to fostering a safe, drug-free residential environment, they offer comprehensive assessments, individualized treatment/recovery plans, and dedicated case management.
The Role
We are currently on the lookout for a passionate and experienced Nurse Unit Manager (Internally referred to as Nurse Team Leader) on a contract basis to start ASAP. In this role, you will oversee the management of specialized withdrawal management (detox) nursing services, clinical assessments, mental and physical health care, and referrals for addiction medical assistance. This is a 10-bed co-located unit with 8 Nursing staff under you plus 1 Case Manager. Your responsibilities will also include line management of the nursing team, ensuring nursing assessment, support, and treatment align with the Management of Withdrawal from Alcohol and Other Drugs Clinical Guidance and Handbook.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working hours are Monday - Friday
- Provide leadership in nursing assessments, support, and treatment adhering to clinical guidelines (Mental Health or AoD experience highly desirable)
- Collaborate and liaise with visiting medical officers (VMOs) while managing stakeholder relationships
- Ensure the safe dispensing and administration of medications
- Oversee admission and discharge processes, maintaining accurate case notes and documentation
- Facilitate smooth handovers during shift changes
- Rostering of staff
Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Regional Manager and is based in Surry Hills, NSW.
Requirements: To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Tertiary qualification in Nursing
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Minimum 1-2 years of management experience and demonstrated competence in alcohol and other drugs nursing, including working with individuals with mental health conditions
- Current knowledge of guidelines and issues related to withdrawal management
- Skills in triage, medical assessment, decision-making, and crisis support
