Bechtel Mining and Metals is seeking an experienced Lead Cost Engineer with proven capabilities to join our project team in Brisbane.

About the Role:

As Lead Cost Engineer, you will provide input, guidance and recommendations for cost engineering requirements relative to staffing and project control, preparing detailed staffing plans for cost engineering activities. You will review proposal provisions related to cost engineering and material control and develops supporting data for contract negotiations and participating in establishing pricing structures to be applied to quantities for estimates.

Your responsibilities will include:

Participate in developing and presenting training classes on designated subjects and on-the- job training for specific processes and practices.
Conduct personnel performance reviews when delegated and interview candidates and make recommendations for employment decisions.
Supervise the timely preparation of cost estimates (assisting PCM / Deputy PCM). Prepares and analyses comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between the projects. Performs productivity analysis of Construction operations and verifies results.
Review project work activities to ensure support of project milestones.
Coordinate pricing structure or criteria to be used by each discipline or specialty to meet the objectives of the cost estimate.
Other duties as designated.

What You Bring:

Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field with more than 10 years of project controls or cost related work experience. In lieu of degree 15 years of project controls or cost control experience.
Experience in directing project cost engineering, including cost control and analysis, cost reporting, incurred cost assessment and conducting meetings.
Experience in establishing criteria for Project Controls cost activities and in cost and commitment and incurred cost analysis and management.
Skilled in oral and written communication, with demonstrated ability to present Project Controls information to management/client.
Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up work processes, as performed by Bechtel.
Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.

Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
