Job DescriptionThe Finance section, working collaboratively with Directors and Managers, aims to optimise financial management to enable Perth Zoo to achieve its operational and strategic objectives. This includes responsibility for ensuring compliance with statutory and central agency financial management and reporting obligations. ROLE OF POSITION The position has responsibility for accounts payable and revenue processes and ensuring compliance with related policies and procedures. The position prepares financial reports to meet management, statutory and central agency reporting requirements, performs financial analysis/evaluations and prepares taxation returns. As part of a small team, the position ensures accuracy and timeliness of financial information/reporting and provides financial advice to support informed management decision making.
Selection CriteriaApplicants should address the following four (4) essential criteria. Criteria 1, 2 and 3 should be addressed in no more than two (2) pages (A4) in total and proof of current membership for criteria 4 is to be provided.
Demonstrated working knowledge and experience in accounting principles with an ability to apply relevant accounting standards and taxation legislation in the preparation of financial statements, taxation returns and the development of policies and procedures.
Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to supervise, communicate and liaise effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated organisational and time management skills to achieve a range of tasks with limited supervision.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, commerce, business or equivalent and current membership of one of the principal accounting bodies as follows:
CPA Australia as a CPA; or
Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand as a Chartered Accountant; or
Institute of Public Accountants as a Member of the Institute of Public Accountants; or
appropriate membership of a recognised overseas accounting body. Candidates possessing international qualifications must provide assessment by the Overseas Qualification Assessment Unit (OQU) from Department of Workforce Development and Training WA or OQU assessment from another state for approval as an equivalent by the Executive Director, Department of Commerce.
Note: The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current (issue date not older than 6 months) and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
