Earth Observation & Remote Sensing Specialist Environmental, Earth & Geosciences (Science & Technology) Join the vibrant Australian Space Industry and help transform Australia's major sectors through space technologies.Attractive Salary package SmartSat is seeking a scientist, engineer or analyst with experience in Satellite Earth Observation (EO) to provide specialist scientific advice on remote sensing applications, including space mission design and applications in areas such as environmental and water quality monitoring, land use and agricultural analytics. Subject to the skills and experience of the candidate, the role may support the design of relevant missions and the formulation, development, and management of relevant research and innovation projects that will be delivered by our partners.The SmartSat CRCThe SmartSat CRC is a consortium of universities and other research organisations, partnered with industry, that has been funded by the Australian Government under the CRC program to develop know-how and technologies in advanced telecommunications & loT connectivity, intelligent satellite systems and next generation earth observation sensors & analytics. However, excessive travel is not an expectation;A paid parental leave policy which is available to all staff.Role ResponsibilitiesDepending on your experience the level of responsibility and supervision will vary across the following areas: Providing specialist scientific advice on Earth Observation and Remote Sensing applications with an emphasis on environmental monitoring and disaster resilience, water quality monitoring and agricultural intelligence using in-situ, airborne and space-based assets;Lead the scientific design and development of space missions and technology programs;Provide technical guidance on current SmartSat EO and Remote Sensing projects;Participate in the scientific review of SmartSat projects for the relevant area of expertise so as to ensure that these projects are scientifically and methodologically robust; andSupport SmartSat National and International engagement, business development, and collaborative project discussions relevant to EO and Remote Sensing SELECTION CRITERIAA PhD in a relevant scientific and/or technical field;Experience in research project design for earth observation and remote sensing applications;Experience or familiar in space mission requirements, design and development;Demonstrated ability to collaborate with research leaders and researchers and to engage with a variety of key business stakeholders;Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines with minimal supervision;Demonstration of the Professional and Personal Attributes and Competencies described elsewhere in the Position Description document.
