About you
An Active Directory (AD) Consultant plays a crucial role in managing and maintaining the Active Directory infrastructure within an organization. Here's an outline of their roles and responsibilities:
Designing and Implementing Active Directory Infrastructure: AD Specialists are responsible for designing the Active Directory structure based on the organization's requirements, including domains, forests, organizational units (OUs), group policies, and trust relationships. They also oversee the implementation of the designed infrastructure.
User and Group Management: They manage user and group accounts within the Active Directory, including creating, modifying, and deleting user accounts, as well as assigning appropriate permissions and group memberships based on job roles and responsibilities.
Group Policy Management: AD Specialists configure and manage Group Policies to enforce security settings, desktop configurations, and other policies across the network. This involves creating, linking, and troubleshooting Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to ensure compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
Directory Service Maintenance and Troubleshooting: They monitor the health and performance of the Active Directory infrastructure, conduct routine maintenance tasks such as database cleanup and defragmentation, and troubleshoot issues related to directory service replication, authentication, and access control.
Identity and Access Management (IAM): AD Specialists oversee identity and access management processes, including provisioning and deprovisioning user accounts, managing access rights and permissions, and ensuring compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements.
Security Administration: They implement security best practices within the Active Directory environment, such as enforcing strong password policies, configuring access controls, auditing directory service activities, and responding to security incidents and breaches.
Integration with other Systems: AD Specialists work on integrating Active Directory with other systems and applications, such as email services, cloud platforms, and third-party identity management solutions, ensuring seamless authentication and access control across the organization's IT infrastructure.
Documentation and Training: They maintain documentation of Active Directory configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps, and provide training to IT staff and end-users on how to effectively use Active Directory services and adhere to security policies.
Disaster Recovery and Backup: AD Specialists develop and implement disaster recovery plans and backup strategies to ensure the availability and integrity of Active Directory data in the event of hardware failures, data corruption, or other emergencies.
If you don’t have all the requirements or feel you might not be experienced enough still apply as we have a number of other opportunities worth having a further discussion about. Also not all the requirements are mandatory.
